Streetcar construction: North Rampart lane shifts

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Crews from Archer Western, the Regional Transit Authority's contractor began lane shifts on North Rampart on June 9. The lane shifts are part of the ongoing work being done to the new North Rampart/St. Claude street car line on the edge of the French Quarter.

The parking lane is being shifted to the inside lane on the riverside of North Rampart between Orleans Avenue and St. Philip Street. Traffic will not be allowed to turn right onto St. Ann Street or turn right from Dumaine Street for at least a week.

This shift comes while the contractor works to fix the pavement at the intersections of St. Ann and Dumaine. Cars are not allowed to park on North Rampart between Orleans Avenue and St. Philip during construction.

The RTA will provide regular updates while work progresses. For more information, visit
