NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The Louisiana Tumor Registry, a cancer program at LSU Health New Orleans School of Public Health received a national honor. LSU Health New Orleans is one of 19 hospitals receiving the Registry of Excellence award from the National Program of Cancer Registries.
The honor means LSU Health New Orleans met high standards for cancer prevention and treatment nationally. The hospitals data such as treatment plans and mortality rates for patients is also analyzed.
LSU Health New Orleans' Louisiana Tumor Registry is also one of 17 national cancer registries in the National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program.The SEER programs is an international registry.
LSU Health New Orleans Louisiana Tumor Registry has two central offices in New Orleans and a regional offices located at the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Baton Rouge, Acadiana Medical Research Foundation in Lafayette, and the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
