NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Tropical Storm Bill has formed in the Gulf of Mexico.
The storm is expected to bring heavy rains to Texas and Oklahoma.
Bill's maximum sustained winds were reported near 50 mph. The storm was tracking toward the northwest at 12 mph and expected to make landfall along the Texas coast Tuesday morning.
It's then predicted to move inland over south-central Texas Tuesday afternoon and weaken to a tropical depression by Tuesday night.
The National Weather Service says the storm is forecast to bring 4 to 8 inches of rain over eastern Texas and eastern Oklahoma with up to a foot in isolated areas in eastern Texas. Two to 4 inches are expected over western Louisiana and western Arkansas.
