Elephants stomp across New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The third annual Crescent City Summer Celebration Parade rolled through downtown New Orleans on Tuesday.

Elephants accompanied the parade, stopping across the Central Business District. They marched with dozens of other performers from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. The circus is in town ahead of June 18-21 performances at the Smoothie King Center.

The parade began at the Smoothie King Center and traveled down Girod Street, turned left on Carondelet Street, traveled down Poydras Street to Sugar Bowl Drive and concluded on West Stadium Drive back to the Smoothie King Center.

Following the parade, a "watering event" was held at the Loyola Avenue and Poydras Street intersection where spectators had a chance to see how Ringling keeps its elephants cool in the summer heat.
