Report: Saints backup QB Ryan Griffin attacked at CBD champagne lounge

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

New Orleans Saints backup quarterback Ryan Griffin needed more than 50 stitches after he was attacked at a Central Business District champagne lounge, according to our partners at Nola.com/ The Times Picayune.

The paper reports that the 25-year-old Tulane graduate was struck in the face with a champagne bottle after he “bumped into” a group of men at the lounge. Nola.com/ The Times Picayune sites New Orleans police records.

The attack allegedly happened around 1:50 a.m. on June 7 at Apres Lounge, located at 608 Fulton Street. Griffin left the lounge for Tulane Hospital's emergency room where he received more than 50 stitches for lacerations to his face, according to reports.

He returned to his Warehouse District apartment where he contacted police, Nola.com/ The Times Picayune reports.

Griffin in entering his third year with the Saints. He practiced with the team as normal on Tuesday.
