OPSO: Fired recruit shows up for work, arrested for impersonating officer

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A former recruit for the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office was arrested for impersonating a peace officer and criminal trespass.

Dariyan Octave, 21, a former recruit for the OPSO, was fired on May 28. She was terminated for "cause during her probationary period," according to a OPSO news release. However, she showed up in uniform to work a shift on Tuesday at the Orleans Parish Conchetta jail facility.

Following a routine staffing review, deputies say it was revealed that Octave had been terminated and was not authorized to be in the jail facility.

Octave faces one count of impersonating a peace officer and one count of criminal trespass.

The investigation is ongoing. Further information is not immediately available.
