OMAHA, NE (WVUE) -

TCU broke open a 3-3 tie with a three-run fifth inning, using an RBI double from Evan Skoug and a two-run single from Dane Steinhagen to beat LSU 8-4 in an elimination game at the College World Series.

LSU finishes the season 54-12, 1-2 in Omaha. The Tigers used eight pitchers on the night and could not prevent the timely hits from the Horned Frogs. LSU starter Zac Person lasted just 1.1 innings, giving up three runs. Austin Bain gave up three runs in 1.1 innings as well.

The Tigers jumped ahead 1-0 in the first inning following a Kade Scivicque RBI single.

TCU took its first lead in the bottom of the second inning following a bases loaded walk and two-run single from nine-hole hitter Garrett Crain.

LSU tied the game in the third inning. Jake Fraley's RBI triple made it 3-2 before a wild pitch scored Fraley from third.

The Tigers could not produce any scoring opportunities until late in the game. LSU managed just seven hits overall, going hitless in the fourth through eighth innings. Only one LSU batter reached base, via a walk, during that span.

TCU added its seventh run in the seventh inning on an RBI groundout. An RBI single followed to make it 8-3.

Andrew Stevenson doubled home an LSU run in the ninth inning to make it 8-4.

The LSU defense was fantastic in a losing effort with Mark Laird and Alex Bregman making highlight plays. Tiger catcher Kade Scivicque also caught two TCU runners attempting to steal.
