According to a NOFD spokesperson, it happened Thursday, June 18, 2015. Firefighters responded to a 911 call to 2330 Jefferson Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a two-story home with smoke and flames coming from the roof. Crews quickly called in a second alarm and were able to quickly extinguish the fire which had spread to the attic. no one was home at the time, however rescue crews were able to save a cat and two dogs from the fire. Fire investigators traced the source of the fire back to the ceiling area above the kitchen. Utilities were disconnected by Entergy due to fire and water damage. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
