NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Bond has been set at $10,000 for a 28-year-old man New Orleans police accuse of trying to rob a Mid-City bank.
An Orleans Parish magistrate commissioner rejected an attempted armed robbery charge -- but found probable cause for attempted simple robbery -- against Steven Shelby of New Orleans.
Police said in a news release that Shelby walked into Liberty Bank on Canal St. around 9 a.m. Thursday and demanded money from the teller while "simulating a gun under his shirt."
Police say the teller refused and Shelby left the bank. He was arrested a short time later.
Online jail records do not list an attorney for Shelby.
