NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A plane heading to New Orleans from Washington DC made a remote landing after officials found a "suspicious statement" written on the bathroom door.
According to an Louis Armstrong International Airport representative, American Airlines Flight 4463 from Reagan National Airport redirected it's landing to a remote airfield at MSY after a "suspicious statement" was found on the lavatory door.
The plane landed safely at 1:16 p.m., June 21.
"In accordance with Airport emergency procedures, the aircraft was parked remotely on the airfield," said Michelle Wilcut in a statement from MSY. "After arrival, passengers were off-loaded and processed by law enforcement personnel."
The aircraft and its cargo were inspected. Wilcut said the airport and its operations were not effected by the search and the passengers are safe and secure.
The FBI is leading this investigation.
