HAPPENING TODAY: Questions linger in shooting death of NOPD officer; a mostly dry and hot start to the week

Questions linger in shooting death of NOPD Officer Daryle Holloway

There are still many unanswered questions surrounding the shooting death of Officer Daryle Holloway.

Travis Boys, the 33-year-old man accused of killing the NOPD officer, made his first appearance before a Magistrate judge Sunday afternoon just nine hours after his time on the run came to an end.

There are still many unanswered questions, including why Boys had two guns on him while in police custody.

A mostly dry, hot start to the week

Monday is the first full day of summer and it will feel that way.

Over the weekend, the area saw highs in the 91-96 range. Forecasters do not think we will see a lot of change to start the work week.

Rain coverage will increase a little with about 20 to 30 percent coverage by mid-week. Those that end up with the showers will get a brief break from the hottest temperatures.

Pelicans to introduce new head coach

The New Orleans Pelicans will officially introduce its new coach.

The franchise named Alvin Gentry the new head coach last month. He becomes the sixth head coach in franchise history.

Gentry already has his work cut out for him.

His official introduction comes ahead of the NBA draft this Thursday. The Pels have one pick in the second round. Free agency start July 1.

2 dead, 1 injured in Harvey shooting

Two men are dead and a third is in critical condition following a Sunday night shooting in Harvey.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Apache Drive in Harvey.
