THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

A Thibodaux driver faces numerous charges, including possession of heroin, according to the Thibodaux Police Department. Officials say a young child was found unrestrained in the suspect's car during his arrest.

Officers say they pulled over Tyrone Scott Jr., 29, after learning that the license plate on his green Pontiac Grand Prix was registered to another vehicle.

Scott fled on foot from officers, police say, leaving a child in the back seat of his vehicle.

An officer soon caught up to Scott. The suspect then turned around and began hitting the officer, police say. The suspect was subdued until additional units arrived.

Police say they recovered heroin and synthetic marijuana from a pill bottle on Scott. He was placed under arrest.

Scott faces numerous charges, including possession of heroin, possession of synthetic marijuana, resisting an officer, illegal use of a controlled substance in the presence of a minor, improper child passenger restraints and switched plates.

He is being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $42,150 bond.
