NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - After a year of testing, a highway engineer from Texas Wednesday laid out three scenarios for new guardrails on the Causeway Bridge.
The Causeway Commission is now looking at a pair of options for each direction.
One option calls for a double rail system called B1 that would raise the rail on the lower southbound span from 25 to 46 inches. Engineers also looked at a single rail system called option A that would raise the rail on the newer northbound span to 45 inches.
Causeway commissioners are exploring funding options.
They haven't ruled out grants, but that may be difficult and could require a toll increase. More information is expected in October when the commissioners could vote on which option they wish to proceed with.
