People in Jefferson and St. Tammany parishes can now call on Uber drivers for rides.
The company announced Friday that it's expanding operations to include both parishes. Uber has been operating in New Orleans for months.
Uber faced stiff opposition when it first attempted to start operations in the metro area. New Orleans cab drivers argued the company's drivers would hurt their business. Other people cited safety concerns because Uber drivers are not forced to go through the same licensing procedure cab drivers face.
