NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Video from inside New Orleans' Juvenile Intake Division shows what investigators call "unauthorized force" on a 16-year-old girl.

Nola.com | The Times-Picayune submitted a public records request to access the video. The clip shows how former Officer Terrance Saulny shoved and hit a girl last year. The girl was arrested in connection with a French Quarter purse snatching.

The Office of the Independent Police Monitor issued a statement, following Wednesday's release of the video.

"It is integral to the OIPM that we provide a level of transparency to the City of New Orleans so that people will know what is happening in their police department," Deputy Police Monitor Simone Levine said. "In this NOPD investigation of Officer Saulny, the OIPM worked with the Department to ensure that the investigation and disciplinary process was fair, timely and accurate."

The NOPD fired Saulny last month for violating rules dealing with unauthorized force and truthfulness. Saulny's attorney says his client will appeal.
