Report: Kermit Ruffins' neice killed Friday night in Gentilly

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The woman fatally shot in Gentilly Friday night has been identified as Milan Arriola, the 20-year-old niece of musician Kermit Ruffins according to our Partners at NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune.

According to NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune Arriola's mother is a New Orleans Police Officer and her father is a member of the New Orleans Fire Department.

The shooting occurred at about 8 p.m. near the corner of Allen and Humanity streets, when several people opened fire on a yellow Chevrolet Camaro. Arriola was in the front passenger seat and sustained a gunshot wound to her body as the car kept moving.

Police found Arriola inside the car at the corner of St. Bernard Avenue and N. Broad Street, where she was picked up by EMS and taken to the hospital. She later died.
