Police identify suspect in Gentilly homicide

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans Police have identified a suspect in the fatal shooting of a woman in Gentilly. Will Reed, 20, is wanted for the shooting, which took place Friday around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Humanity and Allen Streets.

Police say that officers responded to the intersection of North Broad Street and St. Bernard Avenue on a call of a woman shot inside of a car. The woman was found in the front passenger seat of the car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was brought to a local hospital where she later passed away.

According to our partners at NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, the victim has been identified as Milan Arriola and that she is the niece of New Orleans musician Kermit Ruffins. NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune also reports that Arriola's mother is a New Orleans police officer and her father is a firefighter with the New Orleans Fire Department.

Investigators learned that the shooting took place at Humanity and Allen and identified Reed as the shooter. Police went to Reed's last known address and found out that he no longer lives at that location. He is wanted for one count  of second degree murder.
