NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A ridge of high pressure has kept the area mostly dry for the last few days, but residents west of I-55 are on the outer periphery and have a better opportunity to see a few showers and storms.
Most of the area, however, would only see less than 10 percent coverage.
The upper high looks to build over us by the weekend, really limiting rain chances as well as sending afternoon temperatures into the mid and upper 90s.
Heat indexes would exceed 105-110 degrees, which is a dangerous category for anyone outdoors for any length of time. Use normal summertime precautions.
