ST. BERNARD PARISH, LA (WVUE) - St. Bernard Parish leaders agree to accept a $9.3 million settlement from BP for the parish's economic losses from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
The parish council passed the resolution during a private closed-door meeting Tuesday night.
Louisiana will receive $6.8 billion dollars as part of the settlement announced last week, which includes up to $1 billion for some local governments.
The amounts under consideration must remain confidential until the local officials release them.
Already, Plaquemines Parish has rejected the settlement, deciding instead to continue fighting for a bigger share of their own.
