NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Anthony Davis officially signed a 5-year contract extension with the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night. The contract is reportedly worth $145 million.
The extension will keep Davis in New Orleans though at least the 2019-2020 seasons, with Davis holding a player option for the 2020-2021 campaign.
"I am very excited to continue to play for the Pelicans and remain a proud resident of the City of New Orleans," stated Davis.
Davis led New Orleans to the playoffs this past spring, the franchise's first post-season appearance since 2011. He is a two-time NBA All-Star just three years into his professional career.
Originally selected by New Orleans with the first overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft out of Kentucky, Davis earned All-Rookie First Team honors after appearing in 64 games and averaging 13.5 points on .516 shooting from the floor, 8.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks.
