NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The NOPD is investigating the murder of a 27-year-old man who died Sunday from injuries he sustained during a beating.
The initial incident happened July 4. At about 4:30 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call of a disturbance in the 4300 block of Washington Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Cesar Rivera unconscious in the street with a head wound.
Witnesses told police that five Hispanic males physically attacked Rivera, striking him with a pipe and punching him. Witnesses said after the attack, Rivera hit his head on a parked vehicle and fell to the ground.
Rivera was taken to the hospital, where he died the next day.
The investigation is ongoing and detectives are investigating to determine a motive and suspects.
