NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Funeral arrangements have been set for Milan Arriola, the prominent 20-year-old shot and killed in Gentilly on July 3.
Arriola was the daughter of a New Orleans police officer and a New Orleans Fire Department captain. She is also the niece of famed New Orleans musician Kermit Ruffins.
Arriola will be laid to rest on Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, located at 1210 Governor Nicholls Street. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the funeral mass following at 10 a.m.
New Orleans police say Arriola was the passenger in the car when 20-year-old Will Reed pulled up and shot several times into the vehicle. Officers say she was not the intended target of the shooting.
Reed was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in Arriola's death. He had just recently been released from prison in February after serving time for his involvement in a 2012 shooting that injured five people, police say.
