It has been another hot and humid July day with rain coverage only around 10%. But, some of those storms can produce heavy amounts of rain. Without much motion (wind) at the surface or aloft, storms that do develop tend to just remain in one place. A FOX 8 viewer reported over 3" of rain near Marrero today from a storm which lasted less than an hour and a half!
A ridge of high pressure allows temps to easily reach the mid 90s and not much rain or cloud cover to develop. Factor in humidity, and the heat index climbs to the triple digits. We can expect about the same for Sunday and most of next week. We can deal with the heat...at least the tropics remain quiet!
