NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The slain daughter of a NOPD officer and NOFD captain will be laid to rest on Monday morning.
Milan Arriola, 20, will be laid to rest on Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, located at 1210 Governor Nicholls Street. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the funeral mass following at 10 a.m.
Arriola was killed on July 3. She was the passenger in the car when someone pulled up and shot several times into the vehicle. Will Reed, 20, was arrested in the case and booked with second degree murder.
Officers say they do not believe Arriola was not the intended target of the shooting.
"I can honestly say that my child was not involved in anything," said Imani Ruffins, the mother of Arriola. "She did not live a questionable lifestyle and that's why when somebody posted that bullet wasn't for her, it was for her. That's what God put in his plan for her. We may not understand why she had to die that way but that's what he wanted."
Arriola was the daughter of a New Orleans police officer and a New Orleans Fire Department captain. She is also the niece of famed New Orleans musician Kermit Ruffins.
