New Orleans restaurateur Tony Angello dies

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Tony Angello, the longtime owner of the Lakeview restaurant bearing his name, died Monday.

Angello's restaurant on Fleur de Lis Drive and Harrison Avenue opened in 1972. It re-opened in 2007 after Hurricane Katrina.

Angello created the now famous "feed me" menu choice, that is a multi-course meal some called a "dining adventure."

Mayor Mitch Landrieu issued the following statement on his passing:

"Tony Angello was a wonderful human being and a great ambassador for the city of New Orleans. He brought laughter and joy to everyone he met, and he will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family and many friends during this difficult time."

Angello was 88.
