NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A billionaire's plan to open a boutique hotel in New Orleans hits a snag.
According to our partners at New Orleans City Business, developers will appeal the City Planning Commission's rejection of their plan to build a Richard Branson Virgin Hotel on Baronne Street.
The commission voted against waivers to allow the building to be 14 stories tall. The area's zoned height limit is 10 stories.
A surface parking lot occupies the site of the proposed hotel right now.
Earlier this year, Richard Branson told the New York Times he wanted to bring his hotels to the U.S. Market. He wanted to start in New Orleans, Chicago, New York and Nashville.
