Mid-City Rouse's robber makes off with over $8,500

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Police are looking for a man who overpowered a security guard at a Mid-City grocery store and stole $8,584 in cash.

The robbery happened just after 11 p.m. at the Rouse's store in the 400 block of N. Carrollton Avenue.
According to initial police reports, a man dressed in all-dark clothing, gloves and a tan mask over his face entered the store and took the security officer's holster. The robber then led the officer to the cash room and forced him to fill a bag with money.  
Police are working to determine if the suspect is responsible for other similar incidents that have occurred around the city.
The robber is described as a black male with a slim build, about 6'2" tall and 160 pounds.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
