NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Louisiana State Police and the New Orleans Police Department were involved in an overnight shooting in the Desire neighborhood.

The shooting was reported around 1:30 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Almonaster Ave. and Louisa Street. A signal 108, or "officer needs assistance" call, went out around that time.

Officers say that a male suspect was shot by responding officers. He remains hospitalized with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the body, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

It's not clear which agency was involved in the shooting. Police were not injured during the incident.

Little information is known at this time. FOX 8 has a crew on the scene.
