HARVEY, LA (WVUE) - A Harvey mother is accused of punishing her three young daughters by shooting their arms with a BB gun, choking them and making them hold weights above their heads while on their knees, according to our partners at Nola.com/The Times Picayune.
Tomeka Stair, 34, was booked on three counts of cruelty to a juvenile, Col. John Fortunato told the paper. Stair's girlfriend, 21-year-old Shebria Turner, faces similar charges.
The victims, ages 9 to 11, are three of Stair's five children. They allegedly told an aunt about the punishments.
The aunt contacted the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and a detective was sent to interview the young girls, according to reports.
Following an interview with the victims, arrest warrants were issued for Stair and Turner. Stair declined to talk with detectives but Turner confirmed the children's accounts, according to Nola.com/The Times Picayune.
Both were taken into custody and booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on July 19.
Stair's five children are in the custody of a relative.
