Ranking the Saints: #6 Jairus Byrd

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Prediction -- If this guy can get his old form back, quarterbacks will have to find him before every snap of the ball. At number six is safety Jairus Byrd.

The Saints proven free-agent acquisition from a year ago never quite got going in 2014. He was injured most of the offseason and parts of the preseason. He suffered a meniscus tear just four games into the regular season.

It was unfortunate because the Saints had big plans for Byrd.

But now he's back... ready and healthy.

The Saints want him to be the ball-hawk he's always been throughout his career. In fact, they're demanding that from him.

If he can, he'll be a huge catalyst for the rejuvenation of this defense in 2015.

Andrew Stevenson struggled at the plate as a freshman at LSU in 2013, batting just .193, but his defense was extraordinary enough to encourage coach Paul Mainieri to start the Lafayette native in 33 of the Tigers' games that season. Now a pro, Stevenson's glove is again forcing his team's hand. A month after turning 23, Stevenson participated in the AAA All-Star Game. Just two weeks later, he has now been called up to the Washington Nationals. He did not play Sunday against the Diamo...
