JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Government workers in Jefferson Parish will get a little more in their paycheck soon.
The council unanimously approved a five percent cost-of-living pay raise for Jefferson Parish employees.
"Unfortunately, tough financial times in recent years have made it difficult to provide our employees with meaningful pay raises," Councilman Elton Lagasse said. "Today, I am proud to announce that my fellow Council members and I passed a resolution guaranteeing all employees will receive a well-deserved pay raise in 2016."
The parish says the pay raise goes into effect January 1, 2016.
