NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A man in New Orleans East took matters into his own hands when his daughter called for help after three men allegedly broke into their home.

According to NOPD, three men allegedly broke into a house in the 6700 block of Foch Road around noon today. A young woman was alone in the house at the time and barricaded herself inside a room for protection. She then called police and her father for help.

NOPD said that her father arrived on the scene before officers and chased the three suspects out of his home. While they were running, police said the father may have seen one of them pull out a weapon so he opened fire hitting one of the suspects in the thigh.

Police found the injured suspect a few blocks away from the scene. He is now in police custody. The other two suspects are still at large.
