ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Louisiana State Police are investigating an accident that claimed the life of a Metairie man. The incident occurred Wednesday, just after 1 p.m. on Interstate 12 east bound between Lacombe and Slidell. Rahn Taylor, 37, was pronounced dead as a result of the crash.
Police say that Taylor was driving an 18-wheeler east on I-12 in the left lane. To his right was 55-year-old Kenneth Bacchus of New Orleans, who was also driving an 18-wheeler. Taylor began having an issue with a tire on the right side of his vehicle. The tire failure caused his rig to veer to the right, crashing into the left side of Bacchus's rig. After the impact Taylor's vehicle rolled off the right side of the roadway where it made impact with several trees. Bacchus stopped his rig on the right shoulder.
Despite having his seat belt on during the crash, Taylor was pronounced dead on the scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office. Bacchus was not injured in the crash. Investigators do not believe that alcohol played a factor in the crash.
