DESTIN, FL (WVUE) - Two hooks were lodged in the mouth of a hammerhead shark lurking off the Destin, Florida shoreline.
Brothers Marcus and Logan Lakos decided to help. Logan dragged the shark, estimated at 10-feet, to shore while Marcus filmed the encounter.
Marcus states that the hammerhead had deep-sea fishing hooks lodged in its mouth and steel fishing line tangled around its head. His brother, along with several bystanders, pried the hooks from the shark's mouth in front of a large audience.
He states many bystanders were unsure what to think at first, but once they realized Logan was trying to help the shark they did whatever they could do to assist.
After the hooks and line were removed from the shark, it was released back into the Gulf. One of the brothers guided the shark into deeper water until it was able to swim away safely and avoid further injuring itself or the public.
