Ryan Naquin

Ryan is a homegrown southeast Louisiana boy who is happy to be back home. Born in Metairie, Ryan moved to Slidell in grade school and graduated from Slidell High in 2003.

He then earned a bachelor’s degree from LSU's Manship School of Journalism and started his career in Macon, Georgia in 2008. There he worked as a reporter for the Georgia Farm Monitor TV show, traveled around the state and country and covered stories ranging from agriculture to politics.

In 2010, Ryan moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and worked for WPDE Channel 15. In Myrtle Beach, he covered stories about tourism and racial tensions that remain in the area.

After four years away, Ryan decided to move back to Louisiana and work for WBRZ Channel 2 in Baton Rouge. There he uncovered mismanagement at the historical WWII ship the U.S.S. Kidd. Ryan’s report initiated an investigation by the state's Investigator Generals Office, which backed up his initial findings.

He also covered stories about possible abuse of power by the Baton Rouge Police Department and the Denham Springs Police Department.

Both investigative stories sparked public watchdog groups to take a closer look at the departments.

Ryan is ready to cover stories where he grew up. He will use his knowledge of the area to bring a local's perspective to stories and wants to create positive change as New Orleans and the surrounding area continues to regroup, rebuild and grow stronger since the storm.
