NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - After an extremely hot afternoon, several areas went under a heat advisory. We also saw several late evening storms. A few reached severe criteria, but coming so late in the evening, storms provided minimal relief from the heat.
Our weather is still dominated by high pressure with just a bit of activity circulating around that high allowing for these thunderstorms to take shape. It appears we will stay with this pattern through the weekend and have a similar chance for rain on Sunday.
Unfortunately, we will also see the advanced heat and heat advisories are likely once again to finish out the weekend. As the beginning of the work week, it looks like dry weather picks back up with a better chance for showers and thunderstorms returning for next weekend.
