ST. LANDRY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The "Cajun John Wayne" is at it again.
Deputies with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office have issued a stern warning for the man accused of burglarizing Stelly's Supermarket, one of the sheriff's favorite spots.
In a new video-gone-viral, Lt. Clay Higgins, dubbed as the Cajun John Wayne, issues this statement for the burglar caught on camera. Mobile users can watch the video here.
"Look at me son, I'm talking to you," said Higgins. "The sheriff likes Stelly's Restaurant, and so do I. The food here is good, and the folks are friendly. We're going to identify you, arrest you, and put you in a small cell. After that, I'm going to have a cheeseburger here with fries and a Coke and leave a nice tip for the waitress. Meanwhile, your next meal will be served through a small hole in a cell door."
Higgins is the public information officer for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office. He does a weekly Crime Stoppers segment that airs on KATC.
Higgins was thrown into the spotlight back in May following a story published by the Washington Post.
The Post said Higgins' "stern demeanor, back-country drawl and made-for-TV one-liners explain why, in towns across southern Louisiana, he is quickly becoming known as the Cajun John Wayne."
