NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The NOPD has arrested a 13-year-old boy for allegedly shooting his 37-year-old father. The incident took place July 24 inside a home in the 3300 block of Fern Street.
At approximately 3:10 a.m., police responded to a call of a shooting and found the victim with gunshot wounds to the leg, chest and head. He is currently hospitalized in stable condition.
According to the victim, he was sleeping when he was awakened by gunfire and realized he had been shot. After executing a search warrant at the house, detectives recovered the gun used in the incident, according to an NOPD news release.
The boy was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center, where he was booked with aggravated battery by shooting and possession of marijuana.
