Cameras catch man as he narrowly avoids being crushed by SUV

Man narrowly escapes being crushed by SUV

(WVUE) - Cameras show a driver's close call at a gas station as an out-of-control SUV nearly crushes him.

"I moved out of the way just in time. Not until I saw the video did I realize how close I was," Joel Moran said.

Moran said he was out running errands Monday when he stopped at the Four Corners General Store just after noon to get gas.

Police say the driver of the SUV blew through a stop sign. Another SUV coming through the intersection clips the first vehicle and then loses control.

"Out of the corner of my eye, I see the car screeching," Moran said. "The SUV screeching across the road where the tire marks are, and then he tried to correct and just barreled towards here and I went like this, dropped it, and stepped like this about a foot and a half."

The out-of-control SUV slams Moran's car up against the gas pump just as he steps back and avoids being crushed.

"We can sit on the couch and yell at the TV and say, 'Just get out of the way!' Well, wait until it happens to you and you'll realize it's not the easy to get out of the way," Moran said.

Incredibly, no one involved in yesterday's accident was hurt.
