METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - A Metairie man is accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and sexually assaulting her at his apartment.
Jeremy Augustine, 31, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon following a joint investigation between the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
Detectives say that a Houma woman was standing outside of her residence on Dale Drive when her ex-boyfriend, Augustine, approached her with a handgun. Officers say Augustine drove the victim back to his apartment in Metairie where he held her against her will and sexually assaulted her.
The victim managed to summon help from a Jefferson Parish patrolman on Tuesday afternoon, according to deputies.
The victim was taken to a hospital in Jefferson Parish where she was treated and released.
Augustine was found Tuesday night hiding inside of his apartment, according to deputies. He was booked in Jefferson Parish for false imprisonment and aggravated rape.
Terrebonne Parish obtained a warrant for Augustine for second-degree kidnapping. A bond was set at $250,000. The suspect will be transported to Terrebonne Parish upon answering charges in Jefferson Parish.
Deputies say he had outstanding warrants for telephone harassment and stalking the same victim. Augustine has a lengthy criminal history that includes domestic violence, burglary and resisting an officer.
