HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -

Louisiana State Police on Wednesday released a picture of the gun they say was pointed at officers by a suspect who had led them on a chase. The suspect was then shot and killed.

The weapon is identified as a Crosman Vigilante CO2 pellet revolver.

The incident occurred shortly after noon Monday on Woodlawn Ranch Road near the intersection of LA 56 in Terrebonne Parish.

A TPSO deputy tired to conduct a traffic stop on a 2005 Ford Expedition, but police said the vehicle failed to stop, leading deputies on a pursuit.  Louisiana State Police Troopers and officers from the Houma Police Department responded to assist the Sheriff’s Office.  During the pursuit, officers used a tire deflation device to bring the Expedition to a stop on Woodlawn Ranch Road.

After a brief stand-off, the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Jean Falgout of Houma, got out of the vehicle and pointed a gun towards officers.  Officers fired at Falgout, killing him.

Louisiana State Police are handling the investigation for all three agencies involved.
