NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A number of severe thunderstorm warnings popped up this afternoon as some disturbed weather pushed southwest across the region. We are continuing to see the flow around a high centered to our west. All the heat and moisture across the area provides plenty of fuel for these late afternoon storms to take off.
The National Weather Service issued severe thunderstorm warning for Livingston, St. James, St. John the Baptist and Ascension Parish until 4:30 p.m. The NWS said those storms are weakening as they head to the south shore this evening.
We are also watching a disturbance off the Florida coast that may develop into a low during the day tomorrow. If the low is strong enough we will likely see less rain on Friday with most of the moisture getting drawn towards the low.
We can continue to expect more hot weather heading into the weekend.
