Sheriff: Woman caught on camera stealing restaurant worker's purse

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman who allegedly stole a purse at a Covington-area restaurant.

On July 9, an employee at a Covington-area Applebee's reported that her purse was stolen from the restaurant while she was working her shift. The victim had placed her purse in a cubby hole in the wait staff section of the restaurant.

Shortly before 7 p.m., a woman walked into the "to go" entrance and past the wait staff station out of view of security cameras. Several seconds later, she is seen walking next to the wait staff section having a conversation with someone off camera. She then takes the victim's purse and leaves.

The victim reported that one of her credit/debit cards was used nine minutes later at a gas station in Mandeville.

The suspect is described as a white female, approximately 25-35 years old, approximately 5' 4" to 5' 8" with a medium to heavy build and brown hair.

The suspect was working with a white male who has a tattoo on his right arm of what appears to be a rectangle or square with an unknown design in the middle. The male is approximately 24-30 years old with a medium build and bald head.

Anyone with information about the case or who recognizes the woman is asked to call Detective Matthew Parker at (985) 276-1331.
