AFR: Fast pace practice #5 for Saints

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV (WVUE) -

An extremely fast pace highlighted the Saints fifth practice Monday. Coach Sean Payton concluded things nearly forty minutes early.

It's hard to ignore just how much the conditions have impacted the flow of camp thus far. The weather has been picture-perfect
which is limiting the number and length of their hydration breaks. The lack of stoppage is allowing them to fly through their practice periods. Not
a single practice has gone the entire scheduled time.

Play of the Day

I've been tough on him but to be fair, I'll admit Stanley Jean Baptiste is starting to show some signs of life. He picked off Ryan
Griffin during 7-on-7's today.  What stood out most was Stanley Jean-Baptiste using his size to gain leverage on the receiver, after initially
getting beaten, to go up and make the interception.

Injury Report

CB Brian Dixon- Officially came off PUP.
WR Marques Colston- limited in practice.

TE Josh Hill- did not practice
S Jairus Byrd- did not practice (PUP)
DT Glenn Foster- did not practice (PUP)
OLB Davis Tull- did not practice (PUP)
LS Justin Drescher- did not practice
G Mike McGlynn -did not practice
OLB Anthony Spencer - did not practice
LB Dannell Ellerbe- did not practice
CB P.J. Williams- did not practice

Other Observations

- Dustin Hopkins once again outperformed Zach Hocker in the kicker battle. Hopkins went 4-for-4 on his attempts. Hocker went 3-for-4. By
my count, that's two misses thus far in camp for Hocker.

- Akiem Hicks has dominated Jahri Evans in 1-on-1 lineman drills. Hicks is taking his contract year very seriously. He lost twenty
pounds this offseason and looks quicker and more explosive.

-  Another undrafted rookie that's been solid as of late is guard Sean Hickey. He's been steady as the second team right guard.

- Max Unger was the best offensive lineman during 1-on-1 drills Monday.

- Cam Jordan continued his good camp. He had a sack on Drew Brees today during team drills.

- Kasim Edebali has had a nice start to camp. Monday, he got first team reps during nickel.

- Delvin Breaux is running with the one's at nickel. That looks to be his best fit on this defense, though he looks more than capable
of playing the outside as well.

Solar energy is blanketing one neighborhood even after state tax credits disappeared. In New Orleans East at least 2,150 homes have solar energy and several homeowners are landing the panels at little or no initial cost. At Mary Queen of Vietnam, the church installed a large solar system including a hot water heater panel. “One single panel like that we don't have to use any other energy from the roof to make the water heater work and so it's a big saving to us,” Anthon...
