NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A preliminary hearing is scheduled Tuesday for the man accused of killing the daughter of a New Orleans police officer and a fire department captain.
Will Reed, 20, faces a second degree murder charge in the death of Milan Arriola.
Arriola, 20, was killed on July 3. She was riding in the car near the corner of Humanity and Allen streets when the incident happened. She was the passenger in a car when someone pulled up and shot several times into the vehicle. Reed was arrested in the case and booked with second degree murder.
Officers say they do not believe Arriola was not the intended target of the shooting.
"I can honestly say that my child was not involved in anything," said Imani Ruffins, the mother of Arriola. "She did not live a questionable lifestyle and that's why when somebody posted that bullet wasn't for her, it was for her. That's what God put in his plan for her. We may not understand why she had to die that way but that's what he wanted."
Arriola was the daughter of a New Orleans police officer and a New Orleans Fire Department captain. She is also the niece of famed New Orleans musician Kermit Ruffins.
Reed was recently released from prison in February after serving time for a 2012 shooting that injured five people.
