NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Police released a surveillance picture of a gunman they say fired shots into the ceiling of a grocery store as he tried to rob it.
Investigators say the incident took place around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at Jimmy's Grocery Store in the 4100 block of Dauphine St. in the Bywater.
The NOPD says the gunman walked in and demanded money from the cashier. When the employee refused, police say the gunman fired two shots into the ceiling, then took off with a second person who was keeping the door to the store open.
Police say the gunman was approximately 5'8" tall and about 130 pounds with his face partially covered with a piece of white cloth. They say he was wearing a white t-shirt and a black fanny pack to the front of his black jeans.
