A city spokesperson says the New Orleans Building Corporation has signed the lease for Megabus to move its operations to Union Passenger Terminal on Loyola Avenue. A Megabus spokesman says the low cost carrier has also signed the contract.
For months, Megabus has been picking up and dropping off passengers near the corner of Rampart and Elysian Fields in the Marigny, and neighbors expressed concerns from added traffic and litter, to no restroom facilities.
The city says Megabus conducted a test run at Union Passenger Terminal to ensure its double decker buses could get in and out. The city and company are still working out details on possible additions, including more seating. There's been no update on when the move will be official.
