SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) - Anglers will get more time to catch the big one off the St. Tammany Fishing Pier in Slidell.
Beginning August 5, 2015, the new Pier hours will be Wednesday through Sunday, 7 a.m. until midnight.
"The St. Tammany Fishing Pier is one of the many outdoor amenities that round out our quality of life. The response to night fishing, and the size of the fish being caught have been so impressive, we decided to extend it to every day that we're open," Pat Brister, St. Tammany Parish President said. "The Pier is a place where residents can get outside, spend time with family and friends, and just make some great memories. It offers a terrific recreational experience at a minimal cost. We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the new Pier hours."
People who plan to fish at the Pier must have a valid Louisiana fishing license. Kids under 12 can get on the Pier for free. The rates are $3 to fish and sightseers pay $1. The Pier is located at 54001 East Howze Beach Road near Slidell, and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. For more information call (985) 649-1922.
