NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Erik Nunez, an alleged accomplice of Darren Sharper, appeared in federal court Thursday to plead not guilty to a federal charge
A superseding indictment accuses Nunez of trying to obstruct justice. He is an acquaintance of the former New Orleans Saints player.
Prosecutors say he, along with Sharper, raped two women in New Orleans. He's currently being held on a $2.5 million bond on state charges of aggravated rape.
Sharper agreed to a plea deal earlier this year on charges he drugged and raped women in Louisiana, California, Arizona and Nevada. He's expected to spend about nine years in prison.
Nunez and another alleged accomplice, former St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Deputy Brandon Licciardi, have not gone to trial yet.
