NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Two teens were arrested Tuesday after Seventh District detectives received tips that they were driving a stolen vehicle.

Seventeen-year-old Richard Jones and 19-year-old Christopher Hudgins were booked into Central Lock-up on one count of possession of stolen property.

On Monday (Aug. 3) at around 10:15 p.m., a 53-year-old man was carjacked in the 14500 block of Hayne Boulevard. The victim told detectives that two black males armed with guns approached him and demanded the keys to his 2014 white Jeep Patriot. The victim complied and the two drove off in his vehicle.

During the investigation, detectives learned from residents in the Little Woods Subdivision that the two suspects were seen driving the Jeep in the 7800 block of Star Street. Responding officers saw suspects in the 14800 Curran Boulevard and arrested them without incident.

Detectives believe the pair committed the original carjacking.

This investigation is still ongoing.
